Robert Danahy

Robert Frederick Danahy

3 October 1939 – 25 October 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of

Robert (Bob) Danahy of Belleville, Ontario,

on October 25, 2025 at the age of 86.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 65 years, Donna (nee Anderson),

his daughters Susan (Matthew) and Jennifer (Anoop), his grandchildren Tessa (Majed), Samantha (Ennio), Victor and Nicholas

and his great grandchildren Elias, Selma, Yusif and Mian, Kai, Lilah, Arlo and baby Olive,

his sisters Patti and Cynthia, his brothers Brian and John, predeceased by brothers Dale and Jack and sister Marie.

Bob was born in Picton Ontario to Doris and Fred. At an early age Bob spent 3 happy years on a 100-acre farm, an experience that shaped the rest of life. He credits his appreciation of nature, strong work ethic and family values to the time spent with Gordon and Kathleen. At age 16 he joined the Soldier Apprentice Plan, which led to undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering at Concordia and the University of Arizona, and a lifelong career in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCEME). Following his marriage to Donna, Bob was deployed to a peacekeeping mission in the Middle East, followed by postings within our beautiful country, including, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and BC, in addition to a two-year stint in Arizona.

The final leg of his military career, allowed him to integrate his love of nature and appreciation for the environment, working on the environmental portfolio in CFB Esquimalt then retiring CFB Trenton as their first Environmental Officer.

Bob’s love of wood led to the discovery of his talent as a wood carver, of walking sticks to start, followed by songbirds and ducks.

His hobby grew to a passion, in which he travelled to international carving shows and competitions. Closer to home he helped to lead the

Quinte Woodcarvers Association and to host the annual fundraising dinners for Quinte Wild Turkey Association.

Known as the “baby Whisperer” Bob truly loved his family, always ready to play with sparkle in is eye and heart full of love.

He was grateful for the family and many friends who enriched his life and the nurses and caregivers by his side this past year.

He will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, details to follow.
