Etmanski, James Walter
James Walter Etmanski
April 10, 1956 - September 2026
Passed away September 25th after one of his toughest battles.
A devoted Montreal Canadiens fan he lived vicariously through players like Richard, Lafleur, Béliveau and Dryden.
He was a family man first & foremost who valued community.
He leaves behind the love of his life Nancy, who he shared 48 years of adored rivalry and marriage to,
and his two sons Allan, and his adored granddaughter Josie Etmanski for whom he had a deep awe and never-ending love for,
and younger son Francis (Leslie Canete).
Jim was an educator for 30+ years and was a pillar at CML Snider Elementary where he impacted not just students, but staff as well.
He loved teaching and possessed a gift to reach each and everyone who walked through his classroom door. He loved trivia, Canadian history,
the Montreal Canadiens, the Wellington Dukes, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, The Tragically Hip, Lunch at Allen’s and he possessed a
deep appreciation for everything Canadiana. Nothing intrigued him more than a good political discussion, regardless of what views you had.
Survived by his brother Allan Etmanski, (Vickie Cammack [d.]), Louise Ruttan (Bob Ruttan [d.]), Leona Etmanski (Carl Evers),
Elaine Etmanski (Dave Hancock [d.]) Ann Marie Truman-Smith (Martin Smith [d.]), his Norwood extended families
and many nieces and nephews who will memorialize him with endless memories and lavish stories.
We would like to thank the many members of Jim’s medical team who devoted countless hours of care and compassion to him
and made him as comfortable as possible. The team at Picton Hospice and the palliative care team, you were angels who
compassionately transported us through this difficult journey.
He was, and always will be, loved beyond all measures, and his stories and impact will live on forever.
We will meet and live and laugh again. I will see you in my dreams up around the riverbend.
For death is not the end and I will see you in my dreams.
Long may you run.
