HINKE HOFSTEE

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of

Hinke Hofstee from Wellington,

on Thursday, August 14th, 2025

at the age of 92.

She was surrounded by her daughters Elsie Wiersma of Wellington, Hilda Ashmore (Hal) of Sharbot Lake and Janet Vendrig (Rick) of Seagrave lovingly by her side and with the love sent by her daughter Margaret Cochrane (Cal) from Arizona.  Beloved wife of the late Jan Hofstee (2009).  Predeceased by her sister Gay Dehoop and her precious great granddaughter Katelyn Wiersma.  Hinke will be greatly missed by her family.  She cherished and was loved by all her grandchildren Ryan (Brittni), Hilaina (Kelly), Catherine (Andy) Nathan (Christina), Miles (Tracy), Marilyn (Jordan), Kurt (Hannah) and Kyla.  She adored her great-grandchildren Emma, Jane, Maddox, Juliette, Oliver, Winston, Elizah, Grace, Anna, Bella, Johnathan and Carrie.  Hinke will be dearly missed by her surviving sisters Harmke and Griet and sister-in-law Sus from the Netherlands.

Hinke immigrated to Canada with Jan in 1953 and during their humble life together they joyfully raised 4 daughters in the Port Perry area and later retired to Prince Edward County. Hinke's greatest joy in life was her family.  She was incredibly hard working, talented, resilient and giving.  She found happiness in the simple pleasures, loved her home, spending time with her loved ones, friends and neighbors.   She kept her family and friends warm in her knitted and crocheted creations of slipper socks and baby blankets; well fed with her amazing cooking, baked pies and desserts; and was always giving of her talents supporting her church, friends, family and neighbors.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, gratefulness and tradition, and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

The family would like to thank Dr. Portt, the Prince Edward Family Health Team and Palliative Care Team for their compassionate,

respectful care for mom so she could fulfill her wish to remain in her home.

Friends may visit with the family at the Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington

from 10:30 am until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27th

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the day at the Wellington United Church beginning at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
