Michael James Langlois

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Michael James Langlois,
age 80, of Picton, Ontario.

He will be deeply missed by Fran, his beloved wife of 29 years.

He will be remembered with great love and affection by his daughter Michelle (Bob), and step-sons Corey (Paula) and Chad;

his grandchildren Amir, Kassidy (Travis), Josie (Todd), Livvy (Dray), Carly, Braden and Joshua; and his great-grandchildren Georgia, Lily and Elias.

He is also loved and missed by his sister, Janet (Carl), niece Jennifer (John) and nephew Tony.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Edith Langlois.

Mike worked for the Ontario Government for more than 30 years and achieved his ambition of retiring at 50.

In retirement, he took on the position of Treasurer for more than 20 years at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Picton.

He was instrumental in forming the Joyful Noise musical group, which provided music and entertainment to the residents of long-term care

homes across Prince Edward County. Mike also occasionally provided musical accompaniment by guitar for the congregation of

St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Milford.

Mike deeply loved music, and spent many days writing songs and hymns, while playing one of his many guitars.

He played by ear and was constantly working out and writing down the chords to all of his favourite songs from many musical genres

and organizing them into his homemade song binders. He joked that at his funeral, he wanted to have a Dixieland jazz band

marching down Main Street.

Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather with strong opinions and a good (if sometimes biting) sense of humour.

He was a loving and supportive father – proud of his daughter’s accomplishments and reassuring when she stumbled.

He shared his love of music with Michelle, taught her how to play the guitar when she was a child and they often sang and played together.

He also inspired other family members to play guitar. Mike loved Fran dearly, and often said he was a very lucky guy to be married to her.

(His family agrees!) He was incredibly proud and supportive of Fran’s work in the Anglican church as a Deacon and Canon.

He loved to travel, socialize, dance, play music, eat good food (well salted!), watch good movies, spend time with family, and enjoy life.

During the last decade of his life, he lived with Parkinson’s. Even as the condition progressed, Mike found ways to enjoy life,

appreciate and make music, and spend time with the people he loved.

He loved spending time with so many of his friends and family at his 80th birthday party this past January.

He passed away unexpectedly at home on June 23, with his beloved wife by his side.
