James Reid 'Jim' Lowden

James (Jim) Reid Lowden
14 Nov 1936 – 23 June 2025
With heavy, but full hearts, we announce the passing of James Reid (Jim) Lowden at 88 years of age. Jim passed away at his home in Wellington on The Lake, ON on Monday June 23rd, 2025

. Jim was born in Toronto to Marjorie and John Lowden. He grew up in Moore Park, attended UTS and later graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim was a loving husband to the late Kathleen (Kathy), and an adoring parent to his three children: Jennifer Lowden, Judy Flieler (Darrell) and Jim Lowden Jr (Ellen). He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren: Alex Chambers, Lucy Lynett (Chris), Duncan Flieler (Hillary), Adam Flieler (Shawnae Mutch), Laura and Grace Lowden, and his three great grandchildren: Annika, Seamus and Declan Lynett. Jim is survived by his siblings Elspeth Hogg, Sandy and Steve Lowden. Before retiring, Jim was a Mechanical Consulting Engineer with TMP of Toronto, ON for over 35 years. In 1974 he led the expansion of TMP westward, moving his wife and children to Calgary. Taking a senior role there, Jim established TMP as a leader in the industry, while his family established and grew roots in Alberta. In his work life, Jim was a true go-getter, respected for his skills, honesty and reliability. Away from work, Jim was a supportive and caring father, selfless hockey coach, avid golfer, and the original DIYer. Of particular note, Jim was also an accomplished smart aleck, leveraging his quick wit frequently. Jim will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, humour, and strong sense of Do The Right Thing. Special thanks to the members of the Palliative Care Team including the nurses who helped to make possible our father’s wish to remain in his home until the end. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Prince Edward County (PEC) Memorial Hospital Foundation Back the Build Fund or Hospice Prince Edward.

A celebration of life service will take place at the Rosedale Golf Club, 1901 Mt Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON M4N 2W3, on Friday July 11th from 1-4pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.ainsworthfuneralhome.com
