Cynthia Riordon
Cynthia Riordon
Passed away on January 26th, 2026
after a courageous two year battle with cancer,
at the age of 57, surrounded by love.
She was a devoted mother, a passionate teacher, and a deeply committed member
whose whole life was defined by service and care for others.
Cynthia was actively involved in the communities where she lived, serving on the executive of organizations including
Rotary (Past president - Miramichi, NB), the Wellington Storehouse Foodbank (President - Wellington, ON) and the
union of occasional teachers (President - Hastings and Prince Edward).
The foodbank held a special place in her heart and she was particularly passionate about its current project to secure a new home
- an outcome she had hoped to see achieved in her lifetime. She was a tireless champion for her community, leaving a
legacy of service, compassion, and connection.
Above all, Cynthia was a loving mother whose family was the centre of her world. She is survived by her son Luc Beaubien,
her partner Michael Hoy, her parents Thomas Riordon and Paula (McArdle), her sisters Cathy (Dan) Riordon Burtney, Deb (Jeff) Riordon-Bean,
nieces and nephews Jessica, Joshua, Thomas and Alex and others who were like family to her.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends and colleagues
and the many communities she served so wholeheartedly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jalink and staff at Kingston General Hospital and Dr. Chooback and staff at the Cancer Care Unit at the
Belleville General Hospital as well as the team at Ontario Health at Home who provided exceptional care throughout her illness,
not to mention Cynthia’s close friends Genevieve Ducros and Jennifer Hall for their tireless love and support.
A Celebration of Life will be announced and held later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church or The Storehouse Foodbank in Wellington.
Arrangements entrusted to the
